Managing Projects

Well I just finished my project management class with Dr. Skaff. It was pretty fun, and even better than I thought it would be. I learned a lot about what it takes to be a good, or great, project manager. One of the main things I learned was that the best project managers have good people and listening skills as well as leadership abilities. Furthermore, I learned that even though project managers don’t do as much of the project as the team, but they still have a lot of work to do towards completing the project. Things such as getting the team assembled, up and running, and quite a bit of political matters to handle to make sure the project is completed as closed to planned as possible. Also, an interesting fact that I learned is that they also usually start with salaries that are close to, if not, six figures, which is more than what most programmers start out with. So, if your programming skills are so-so and you have good people skills and leadership abilities, I highly recommend that you check out Software Project Management.
